Next Steps Young Men

Outdoor Coaching and Empowerment Program

  • Tulsa’s only outdoor life-coaching group for young men led by master teacher and life coach, Clayton Hucke (M.ED)

  • Too many young men are lost, confused, inactive, unmotivated, over-teched, under-engaged, and lack community

  • The most commonly suggested solution for these young men is for them to get a therapist. Though true for some, what most young men really need is to establish community, rediscover their identity, understand their negative tendencies, step into their unique strengths, and take daily action to go after their goals

  • Become the man you were meant to be! Build confidence, leadership, and real-world skills through mentorship, coaching, fitness, and brotherhood.

Young men are not doing well!

There is a shortage of male mentorship/coaching and authentic connection

  • College Enrollment/Graduation Gap - Women now make up about 60% of college students, while male enrollment has been steadily declining. (National Student Clearinghouse, 2023)

  • Workforce Dropout -  Over 7 million prime working-age men (25-54) are not in the labor force, with many disengaged from both work and education. (Brookings, 2023)

  • Academic Struggles -  Boys are twice as likely as girls to be diagnosed with ADHD and are falling behind in reading and writing scores. (NCES, 2022)

    • Discipline & Learning Styles: Schools emphasize sit-still, follow-the-rules environments, which can be more difficult for boys, who often learn better through movement and hands-on engagement.

  • Suicide Rates - Young men (15-24) die by suicide at 4x the rate of young women. (CDC, 2023)

  • Depression & Anxiety-  Mental health disorders among men are rising, but they are less likely to seek professional help. (APA, 2023)

  • Decline in Relationships- Over 60% of young men (18-30) are single, double the rate of young women. Many report struggling with dating and forming relationships. (Pew Research, 2023)
